This is a tale of two campgrounds. As you enter the campground the sites on the left must be part of the "old" section and are very small, wet and dismal. The sites on the right are for the most part decent, a bit more open and definitely drier. Unfortunately, for us we were in the old section. Our site was so small our awning was actually touching our neighbors, we were perched on a high spot with the rest of our site surrounded by water. Our neighbor behind us was not quite 3 feet away and if they had started a campfire would have burned our camper. The bathrooms are cleaned 2 times a day however they were still a mess and dirty. There were decent activities for the kids and adults. The interior roads in the campground were terrible, very rutted and filled with massive holes. I don't think we will be returning to Prospect Mountain anytime soon.
The road into the campground is very rough. The owners do attempt to keep it smooth by grading it often however the road is sand based and quickly becomes a washboard. We camped in the safari field. We had sewer, water and electric however the sewer connection was placed in a manner that it ended up above our camper and gravity will not push poop uphill no matter how full the black water tank is!! The sewers were overflowing most of the time we were there, we did get the management to come by and pump the tank out once. The lake is very nice, decent beach and the water is clean. Most of the activities are expensive...mini golf was $4.00 per person which gets expensive after a few days...the bathrooms and showers were very clean, some of the cleanest i have seen in a campground. Overall, I would say the activities for the kids were OK, although the times posted would be indiscriminately changed with no notice which gets frustrating. I don't think we will return to this campground in the near future.
Decent facilities and great activities. We camped in the safari field and the sites are very close together. Lots of seasonal campers at this campground. They were undergoing some construction at the entrance to the campground, however, it did not really affect things. The adult lounge was very nice; we went up for a couple of drinks on Saturday night. Most of the people we talked to were very friendly as was the staff. We will definitely return to this campground.
